Save yourself

June 30, 2008

Beware of the shade where there are hundreds of blood-sucking buggers waiting for lunch. For the most part, if you are wearing Deep Woods or any repellent with the main ingredient DEET in it, you will be protected. But any exposed skin will be attacked with precision. If bitten, you will have to endure the itch for 2-3 days afterwards. The better plan is to be protected.

Aside from the itch, beware of mosquitos carrying the West Nile disease. I’m afraid there’s no indicator. I mean, mosquitos don’t wear a red bandana indicating they are infected. If you experience a high fever after being bitten, check it out with your doctor.

This weekend, we tested Naturapel, a non-DEET repellent against the popular DEEP WOODS. Naturapel failed drastically with over 14 bites. When sprayed, Naturapel had a more pleasant smell but acted more like seasoning than a repellent.

A lot of golf courses recommend you to spray yourself over pavement because the repellent will kill grass. Be green and save your blood with DEEP WOODS.
